Oh, snap, it’s Friday! It’s sunny and coolish, but it’s supposed to warm up. I woke up fairly convinced it was Saturday, dismissed the alarm, and went back to sleep (until the second alarm). Thankfully, my shift doesn’t start until noon, so it wasn’t as though I was in danger of being late.
Poi status: still not shipped. Crystal is a sad panda.
Yesterday, I spent a bunch of time on the phone with a few people, one right after the other. After the second call, I started to smell barbeque. There’s no BBQ places near work, so I’m trying to determine where the smell is. Is it a patient? Do I smell like cooked meat? Do I need to switch to a clean mask? As the calls keep coming, the smell grows stronger, and now I’m all freaked out. After the last call, I turn to StressedRPh and DayTech and ask “DO EITHER OF YOU SMELL BARBEQUE OR AM I JUST HAVING A STROKE?!”
The store manager was grilling burgers as part of the mini retirement party for one of the front store supervisors.
Aside from that, it wasn’t a bad day. I learned Matryoshka is the top contender for our new staff pharmacist. This is plainly ridiculous, and I hope they actually talk to her about it before they simply assign her the position. She doesn’t really want it. First, she didn’t want to be assigned as a floater to our location in the first place. She needs a very regular schedule because she takes care of her grandchildren, and being a floater doesn’t necessarily allow that. Second, no matter how much they tell us “there’s nothing there”, anyone who works in the pharmacy knows there’s mold in the building. Matryoshka has asthma and a mold allergy and picked up on the air quality situation immediately.
If they actually talked to people, the district would know one of the other floaters who has covered our store really wants the position. She lives close to our location. She’s good, she likes us techs, and we like her. But… managers gonna manage. No one will talk to anyone, and two people are gonna end up annoyed.
Today’s Friday. I’ll start my day with a workout, which will be good. Work is a split shift, and I’ll have a half the day with StressedRPh and half with another floater. I need to text my sister again and ask if/when I can go down to her house tomorrow with some stuff for my nephew. Since I forgot to do it last week, I need to text the lawn guy to mow, thankfully we’ve had a drought so the yard isn’t a jungle. I don’t know what my Friday dinner plans are just yet. If I make some rice, I can have a fajita bowl. If not, I can make a chicken wrap. I could stop on the way home and buy some bacon and buffalo chicken tenders.
On the other hand, if I really want to spoil myself, I’ll buy some milk and eat a pot full of Kraft Dinner with sliced hot dogs. Then, I could sit on the couch, eat directly out of the pot, and watch the new Bill and Ted movie.
