Happy Saturday, my friends.
Today is my dad’s birthday. I should text him. In one of my recent scrolls through Facebook the other day, I saw a post of his, one of those “Memories” posts from a few years ago. It was a photo of him at an easter dinner with my sister, brother-in-law, nephew, and stepmother.
Shawshank and I were at the same dinner. In a way, I can sort of understand why it’s only her family in the photo and not both of our families. Shawshank is a sensitive topic. Then I remember his post from last fall, boasting about his daughter on “international daughters day” out something, with no mention of me. He probably would’ve posted the same photo, regardless of my situation.
When I saw the post, I held my phone up in my mother’s direction to show her. “This is exactly why i didn’t bother saying goodbye to him”, I told her. “I don’t count. He doesn’t give a shit about me.”
So I’ll text him, then mute his notifications for my own sanity.
We had some delicious fish and chips last night. I ate too much and ended up feeling like shit last night. In terms of eating, I’ll have to go easy on my body today.
On second thought, I should eat stuff I actually like today. Tomorrow is Easter dinner with Brian’s parents, and their meals are… questionable. His mother has been talking nonstop about side dishes she wants to make. One is a creamed corn dish that’s made in a slow cooker. From her description of it, I fully expect it will look like a crock full of diaper. The second is something called “confetti spaghetti”, which is some sort of pasta salad abomination.
I’m bringing sweet potatoes. I want there to be at least one thing I’ll eat, otherwise I’ll just have a plate full of ham.
Mom and I are going to a farmer’s market today, and I should go start getting ready to leave the house. Have a good day, everyone.
