Yes, there’s moderation issues with regards to a small handful very specific users. Overwhelmingly, the moderation is damned fair as far as I’ve seen and experienced.
On the NSFW side of things, there is a lot of chatter about image labeling, as well as the unending “get the Onlyfans hoes off the site” complaints by folks. Those complaints fall into two camps:
- PORN BAD!* – These folks just hate porn in general. You do you, boo.
- PORN GOOD! PAYING BAD! – These folks are cool with porn, but don’t believe in paying for it.
I operate on basic social netiquette. It’s fucking simple: I don’t want the people who aren’t there to see jubblies forced to see my jubblies (or any, ideally). I’m a huge fan of the labeling system, myself. The system is set up for that exactly. It’s brilliant. There’s three levels of nudity, and if a poster doesn’t select an applicable label, the system will assign one. If they do assign a label, it can be different than what the user selected, and I think the system uses the more severe label.
By default, Bluesky won’t show people my bits. Users need opt into nudity by deactivating what I call the tiddy-filter.
The trouble starts when folks barrel into their new social media platform without a shred of fucking common sense. Why do I keep seeing porn?, they lament. I thought this place was the anti-Twitter? I don’t know, bruh, maybe because you said it was ok?
Don’t disable the tiddy-filter and you won’t see the tiddies.
When we really drill down, a lot of those PORN BAD! people are, at their core, actually members of PAYING BAD! group. They want the porn, but they think they should get it for free. They’re mad at us because we have the audacity to charge for the work. Seriously, does anyone want to scamper around half-naked when it’s subzero temperatures outside for free? Or editing 100 pics, half of which you’ll be zooming in on your butthole and making faces like this:
No, of course I don’t want to look at butthole pics for free. Taking pics is work, especially as a solo creator. Editing pics is work, no matter how much I optimize my workflow. Writing, scheduling, and making previews for 60+ pics is a whole fucking bunch of time. THE ONLY FREE PORN IS FOREST PORN.
