behold my stupid human tricks

I’m so tired of feeling awful. I spent another night on the couch, partly because the cough is easier to manage, partly because I was worried about Podrick. Shawshank tucked me in and set me up with a cup of water. I woke up a bunch overnight, usually too warm, sometimes too chilly. At some point, I knocked over the water.

Yesterday wasn’t the best. I spent the majority of the day anxious and worrying about Pod, who is still dealing with a head cold that seems to rival Shawshank‘s. He was so congested, he was like a toddler walking around aimlessly with his mouth open, snuffling, nose running. It’s so obvious he’s not feeling well. He hasn’t been trying to eat every single bit of food he finds, and he’s not paying any attention to Pippin whatsoever. I was just getting more and more upset that I couldn’t help him.

Taking a page out of my mother’s handbook, we locked Pod in the bathroom while we took a steamy shower to bust up all his congestion. I did the same thing a couple of times while Shawshank was at work: turn the shower on full blast hot, lock him in the bathroom, and set a timer to let him out. He sneezed like crazy while he was in there. Shawshank showered later in the evening, bringing Pod’s total steams to 4 for the day.

He’s showing slight improvement this morning. He’s wolfed down some wet food, stolen Pippin’s leftovers, and unlike yesterday, he didn’t sound like someone vacuuming up a tub full of jello. Shawshank says the sneezes sound better. I’ll take his word for it.

My head is still stuffy, and the cough comes and goes. I’m going to set up an area to stream in the living room today, with the hope that if I can move around more, I can bring more viewers. Additionally, I’d much rather turn it into spin time than sitting in one spot hoping someone finds me remotely interesting to look at.
