And stood awhile in thought.

And stood awhile in thought.

Callooh, callay, bitches. It’s a frabjous day here in the wabe*. The weather appears to have finally settled down. I have sunshine. We had sun yesterday as well; this is the fucking sunshine state, after all. However, we’re seeing a lot less wind than we’ve had the last few days. Anything more than the occasional stiff breeze is not conducive to my funtime outside stuff.

I am determined to go outside today.

We’ll see if I actually do.

I wasn’t completely potato yesterday. The Apothecarium was in need of emergency maintenance. Around two weeks ago, I spotted what I was fairly certain was a clutch of snail eggs deposited in the sand, three of them about 1″ below the surface. I’ve been watching for changes. The microscope showed movement inside the eggs I could see on Tuesday. Yesterday morning, one egg was “missing”. Somehow, one missing egg turned into several baby snails, and I quickly realized there were only three visible eggs.

Current tally:

  • 11 baby snails
  • 2 adults

Except for two babies, I transferred everyone outside. The two that didn’t make it outside fell off the teaspoon I was using to take them out of the jar. They are somewhere in my bedroom. At approximately 12:30am this morning, as I was falling asleep, I started panicking that these snails were somehow going to crawl into my Chromebook overnight. I know there’s at least one more baby in the terrarium; it fell off the spoon and back into the jar. I cleaned the glass. All the plants seem to be pretty happy. With the days getting longer, things are greening and growing. Once the snails are taken care of, I’ll deal with the potential algae explosion happening.

PHOTO GALLERY TIME!!!!!

While it’s not optimal, I can paint inside. Even so, I didn’t drag everything out yesterday. I only wanted to paint one bit of a painting I started working on last week. I painted the gold box (in the pic. 4). I’ve learned Escher-style optical illusions are a complete bitch to shade. I’ve barely started and it’s only going to get worse.

I also signed one painting (pic. 3), which (to me) means it’s fucking done and I’m not allowed to touch it. I’d like to mail it up to Shawshank, since it’s a picture of one of the residences in TinyTown. Whether or not I mail it directly to him or anonymously to the home is uncertain. Shawshank said he’d go out of his comfort zone to bring it to them if I wanted to go that route. I haven’t decided yet, but I’m not keeping it.

The Auryn amulet (pc. 1) is ready for paint, once I tape it down on a board. I’ll probably take that one and the two half-finished paintings (pic. 2) outside today and see if I can make any headway on the three of them.
