Happy Friday, my loves. I fell asleep watching lightning, and woke up with that weird pre-storm quality to the light. Apparently there’s something weathery in the air around here.

I fell asleep feeling slightly off. There’s no way to know what the fuck caused it; I simply wasn’t 100%, but I’ll be damned if I could pinpoint if it was a mental or physical wrongness. I forced myself to lay down and attempt to sleep rather than focus on the wrongness. Chaucer assisted. He had been walking around on the bed, almost like he was herding me into a sleeping position.

Yesterday, I ran my errands as planned. I wanted to go to the post office, smoke shop, grocery, and Wendy’s. It was only after I got into the truck that I realized how stupid it was for me to decide to do everything in one trip. There was no easy way to hit everything in a loop without backtracking awkwardly and affecting something. The smoke shop and post office are in one part of town, and Wendy’s is on the way home from there. Unfortunately, Target (where I should have been able to find the shaved steak but didn’t) is closer to home, but in the opposite direction. I ended up going to Target first, with the idea that whatever was frozen would be ok if I bought a cold bottle of Coke to put in the bag with it. I didn’t intend on being out for long enough to defrost things. Additionally, I would much rather have slightly defrosted dinner than cold Wendy’s.

The smoke shop was good, as usual. They’re good people. I didn’t need to give them my phone number for the rewards, since they can look me up by name. On my way out, I spotted a pipe shaped like an enormous hot dog and had to check it out. This got the attention of the manager in the back room, who hollered “I love your Tiktoks!” to me. By the time I was back at the house, I had a notification that the cashier had also followed my account.

However, Wendy’s had other ideas about what counts as a good trip out. The wait at the drive through was roughly 15 minutes just to get to the order screen. After another 5 minute wait to get to the payment window, they charged me the wrong, ~$5 instead of the $9 my total should have been. I didn’t notice this because I simply handed the cashier my card and went back to being annoyed I was sitting in the line for that long again. As a result, there was some confusion at the second window while they tried to charge me the correct amount. Then they tried to get me away from the window without giving back my debit card.

Final result: I was charged correctly, but still given the wrong order at the second window, which of course I didn’t notice until after I got home.

Mom and I finished the second season of Stranger Things. Based on this morning’s weather, there might be more of that this afternoon. I think there’s a good chance we’ll go to the buffet tonight for dinner. And – if the weather cooperates – some spin time tonight.

Gotta keep the dispo entertained.
