Good morning, interweblings. Happy Thursday. I woke up to overcast skies and my first wind chill warning. I’m very happy I bought a heavy coat when I bought my new suitcase before I left Pensacola.
Every day, the cats are a little bit better with each other and the changes we foisted on them. We’ve been leaving the bedroom open so they see and interact with each other. Chaucer thinks he’s King Shit of High Turd Mountain and hisses at her, but only when he’s not on the floor. As long as he’s higher than she is, he acts like an asshole.
On the other hand, Pippin really wants to play with Chaucer. The last few nights, she’s run after him or directly in front of him. Until last night we were actively trying to prevent the kerfluffles. However, last night both cats seemed to be in “play mode” to an extent, and decided to hide on either side of the foot rest. We were treated to watching the two cats stalk each other, Loony Toons style, around the obstacle. According to Shawshank, Pipping tried to join him and Chaucer in bed this morning, but Chaucer hissed at her.
We had plans to go out today; Shawshank is making a delivery near a scenic lake and wanted to take me along. Unfortunately, I had a nasty asthma attack in the middle of the night, and plans changed. We agreed that maybe it’s for the best if I stay home today, and out of the cold wind.
I really hate having coughing fits when I’m out in public. I feel bad enough about it happening in the Flat, where someone lives in the apartment next door. While Shawshank assures me he only hears that person’s shower, I worry I’m disturbing everyone within a 2-block radius when I’m barking like a seal. Regardless of whether or not I have an inhaler with me, there’s really nothing to be done for the attacks. The only thing I can do is find a quiet spot and relax. If I’m out and about, that’s impossible. In fact, having trouble is worse when I’m out, because now I’m sitting there, coughing up a lung or two, while anyone who sees me thinks is she actively dying?
And people staring doesn’t help matters at all.
Have you tried to get pictures of the blended fur family? or did I miss them?
Nothing yet, aside from one of them staring at each other. Chaucer likes to hiss at her if she looks at him, so we’ve yet to get any good family pics. Feeding time seems to be the best time to get them in the same space though, so I’m going to keep trying 🙂
Are you on any kind of daily preventative inhaler or just ventolin? My lungs hurt for you..
It’s asthma mostly triggered by allergies, so this is like hay fever season pushed to the max. I haven’t had issues since I left New England, so I only brought a rescue inhaler from Florida. As soon as I left the Gulf’s humidity and started to hit farms – so basically 3 hours into my drive – it was like my lungs decided to rebel.
The prairies are soooo dry, you may find yourself needing a daily symbicort.
