Good morning, world, and happy Sunday. I’m once again having issues determining time and date. Whatever. It is what it is. And for the moment, it’s sunny.
I had another shitty sleep. I woke up once, really early, and pulled my earbuds out. The sun was just rising when I woke up a second time, and then again around 6:30am. I tried to sleep, but ended up doing that cycle where you almost reach actual sleep but wake up with one of those full-body twitches; try to find sleep again, and the cycle repeats. However, waking up didn’t feel as annoying this morning. I attribute that feeling to staying up a little later than I have been. I was watching Youtube videos on building underwater lairs.
Our trip to Walmart was uneventful, as usual. I picked up a few little things and some cat food. I mostly stayed in my chair, trying not to move too much, lest I anger the twingey back pain again. In a moment of self care, I opted to skip my regular nightly spin time, even though shit wasn’t bad by the time the sun set. I felt like going outside might aggravate things. I spend too much time sitting to be uncomfortable while I do it.
In Subnautica news, I discovered that I can enter the game’s developer mode on the Switch. I switched off my need for oxygen. Normally, I don’t do stuff like that because I like to play the game the way it was meant to be played. However, I also want to enjoy the game. I’m already anxious as hell just tooling around in my sea-moth. Traversing one area was nonstop jump scares while I got tagged from behind. The constant worry about “am I going to get eaten?” and “how do I swim out of this wreck?” when I’d be outside the sub was like a timed mini-quest. Eventually, the anxiety was stopping me from doing anything more than gathering resources to build rooms on my little base. The idea of running shit in god mode and turning the game into The Sims: Underwater Expansion is tempting, I really want to see what else there is to the story.
So I went to the crash site yesterday. And the absolute highlight of my day was using a propulsion cannon to fire crabs off the nose of the ship.
The crab-cannon is just how I pictured it in my mind 🙂
hypnagogic jerk
Every now and then I go down a rabbit hole of random things, and that hypnagogic jerks was one of them. Sleep is just fascinating in general.
