Good morning, my darlings. No sunshine today, only overcast skies and clouds. The rain they’ve been promising us for the last three days has finally arrived.
Yesterday, I skipped the workout. I just wasn’t feeling it. Sometimes, I can feel that way and know it will be a good workout if I do it. This was not one of those times. There are very few times when I just know – for whatever reason – a workout will suck. I was sore, the morning was hot, it wasn’t happening.
That’s not too say I did nothing all day. In addition to the daily sunset session, I spun poi a couple of times during the daylight hours. I’ve been practicing a move lately. I’ve said before that the daytime sounds are usually drills and practice. This is the first time in forever, probably since I first started spinning, where I’m actually really practicing something. Additionally, I’m practicing in both directions. I’m getting it. I’m close, but not quite there.
I’m bruised, though. A certain amount of physical contact can be expected when learning something new. During the day, I practice with the fabric poi. However, at some point, I have to switch to the LED set, and there’s a not negligible difference between the two.
I’m getting better. It’s taken me three years, but I think I’ve reached a point where I’ve finally unlocked the ultimate trick:
It doesn’t need to be perfect.
