Is it a storm yet? No? Then we don’t care

Good morning, love. It’s finally Friday. It’s overcast this morning, and I don’t expect that to change until next week. My phone announced the day’s tropical storm warning with the same happy, cheerful tone that used when it reminded me to clean the litter box. I just ran outside and took down all of Mom‘s wind chimes and bird feeders. The wind isn’t here yet, but I’m sure we’d all rather take everything down BEFORE the rain and/or wind starts up.

Yesterday was a lazy day, aside from some spinning in the afternoon and after dinner. I haven’t been having the best time outside this week. I’m not getting into the right headspace out there, and it’s been pretty discouraging. I’ve been drilling moves that I’m already smooth with in one direction and trying to get comfortable with them in the opposite direction.

I’ve been pretty discouraged by the drills, to be honest. While I didn’t get into poi with the intention of it being anything more than a hobby, I’d love to be comfortable doing it in places outside my backyard. Maybe I’m looking at it too much from the perspective of someone familiar with it. Random Barbara on the beach isn’t going to look up from her Debbie Macomber novel and say, “she’s ok, but her plane control sucks and did you see her try to do that anti-spin fountain body tracer? Ugh.”

I believe we’ll be heading out to Walmart for some groceries today. If I were back home, I’d be dreading a pre-storm trip to the grocery store. Down here, I expect everyone is just “meh”. I simply need to assume my human form.
