☕ Good morning, y’all. It’s another sunny morning here in the grass, and Shawshank opened the door for the cats right away. I was up early, before 5am. I rearranged my body, stretching out and scooting a couple of inches back up onto my pillow. Podrick heard me moving around and didn’t waste time climbing onto the bed. He laid across my chest and purred contentedly while I pet him until I dozed again. We repeated this process a couple of times, until he woke Shawshank up and out of his dozing.
The last thing I needed to get my stream back online – the bluetooth Lovense dongle – was delivered just before Shawshank left for work yesterday. I plugged it into the Dell, grabbed a vibe out of the bedroom, turned everything on, and was rewarded with….
Nothing. It didn’t matter which USB port, the ding dang dongle didn’t do anything. I started googling for reasons why things weren’t working. Shawshank wished me well and left me on the couch with my array of electronic toys. I was fucking around with Bluetooth drivers and starting to spiral when I decided to really look at the dongle. Unlike any other USB device I’ve owned, the dongle can fit with either side up. In this case, the wrong way just happened to be the easier way. Once I flipped the dongle over, it lit up and everything was hunkydory.
I spent the rest of the afternoon experimenting in the bedroom. I made sure the toys connected to the Dell and talked to the browser. My “table” can hold the laptop just fine, and a very simple adjustment to my the claw-crane had the camera positioned decently. While fucking about with linking the Pixel to the Dell as a webcam, I figured out how to flip from the back camera to the front. With this knowledge newly unlocked, I have the choice between great quality (and a screen I can see if I adjust the display timeout), or the amazing quality camera (that makes me consider finding some beauty filters for OBS).
I played some Civ for the rest of the afternoon, then worked on my embroidery. I should have reversed my agenda, because the light was terrible for stitching.
And with everything working again, I’m logging in this afternoon. I’ll have to assume a human form.
