Good morning, world. It’s another day. Thursday, I think. I spent the night in the bedroom instead of on the couch. Podrick came up for a cuddle while it was still mostly dark, let me snuggle him for a little while, then let me doze.
We had a very lazy Wednesday. I’m not feeling 100% at all this week – neither of us is – and I skipped the crafting in lieu of doing fuck-all. We watched a lot of Youtube stuff, and I scrolled through Reddit to amuse myself. I love when someone starts a fight. There’s a mild tiff in the Just Dance subreddit; someone commented about the lack of seated dance routines this year, someone else replied “it’s not called ‘just sit'”.
Yesterday, a random guy came into one of the content creator subreddits to make a huge post about how to sell straight male content to women. The overwhelming majority of subscribers to any male content creator, regardless of that creator’s sexuality, are going to be gay men. Any time a guy posts to ask for advice, that’s the first thing anyone tells him. Your audience is other dudes. Those followers or subscribers with female-presenting profile pics are probably dude. This guy wasn’t having it. He kept arguing that mathematically, there are more women buying porn than gay men. All straight dudes need to do as creators is emotionally manipulate women to get them to subscribe.
He was eaten alive. All of this guy’s arguments cited that women consume porn at a rate of about 30% less than men, the total number of women is greater than the total number of gay men, so obviously there’s “more females than gay men to sell to”. Not only is the vast majority of creators in those spaces women, but even more than that, most women aren’t buying porn.
