meat-related

Good morning, world. It’s another frabjous day. We locked Podrick out of the bedroom almost immediately after we went to bed, so we both crashed pretty quickly. He must have missed me, because he was the snuggliest bean when he came into bed early in the morning. I assumed a comfy position that gave Pod access to fingers (but not my neck, which he really wanted) and went back to sleep.

We enjoyed our lazy Saturday. I decarbed the three years worth of kief sitting in the bottom of our grinder, then let it soak for an hour in the mini crock pot with some butter. Later in the afternoon, we used the butter to make a batch of brownies. I mostly read ridiculous Reddit shit to Shawshank until dinner time.

After dinner, I decided to hunt down some of the old internet shit I thought was funny at the turn of the century. The first thing I found was the Stinky Meat Project, which I remember avidly following when it came out. I re-read the first “project”, giving Shawshank the highlights. I absolutely loved how the page hasn’t changed in 25 years. The second thing I dug up from the depths of my brain was also meat-related (but unrelated), the Red Meat comic.

I was put onto Red Meat back around 1997, by one of the tech support guys I worked with at a dialup ISP. I remember spending an afternoon reading through the “meat locker”, and going back regularly to read new stuff. I hate you, Milkman Dan was a meme in our office, usually directed at a tech named Dan. Sadly, it looks like none of the comics actually work on the original site anymore. I was sad about this for all of 2 minutes, because fortunately, I was able to bring up an archive of the archive.

Today will be a normal afternoon. Shawshank will make brunch, and in the afternoon we’ll go over to Shady Acres.
