Greetings and salutations, y’all. We’re all up. Well, I assume Shawshank is; he has a morning shift today, and he’s not here. Podrick came into bed after Shawshank left the house; he ran around the pillows and then settled down for a cuddle for a little while. I rolled over and he left to cause trouble in the kitchen. I managed to check phone notifications, but he forced me out of bed by creating noises I couldn’t immediately identify without leaving the bed. No extra sleep for me.
We had a nice, boring day at home yesterday. There was no need to leave the house, so there was no need to get out of the jammies. The cats enjoyed their spots in the windows and doorways. We watched the victim impact statements and sentencing of Brian Kohberger. I was able to feed my love/hate relationship with true crime: like Doctor Who, MLP, and Sherlock, I enjoy the subject matter but hate the fandom.
The people who post on the subreddits devoted to specific cases are completely unhinged. They’re analyzing every single facial expression. OMG, that defense lawyer is smirking, is she enjoying hearing the anguish in these voices as they talk about what he did to their loved ones?? WTF, TessaAngel3561, that’s just her fucking face. He’s nodding along with what she’s saying, what a creep…. I swear I saw him blinking faster… I don’t care that the law can’t compel him to give a full confession, he should tell us why…. He’s being more attentive when the men speak, as though the women aren’t worthy of his time….
Someone finally chimed in as a voice of reason– what could he have done that would have satisfied any of you? No matter what he did, it would have been wrong. He doesn’t react, he’s cold-hearted. If he cried, then he must be faking. The same point was made in a post about his plea deal without detailing everything. If he confesses everything, would you even believe him? Oh, but the families deserve answers! I agree, but there are no answers. At least, no answers that will help anyone understand why. How can you even begin to grasp the why? Normal people don’t kill four people.
Sometimes, the motive is just “homeboy was fucking crazy”.
