Good morning, world. It’s Monday, which means it’s a new week. It’s fucking cold this week– so cold, in fact, that I went and looked up how to take screenshots with this new laptop just to share how fucking cold it is here.
We had a good day yesterday. Shawshank puttered and made us another delicious brunch. I argued with Fansly support on Reddit, did my makeup, and didn’t get angry about “Meet the Press“. We went out to Shady Acres in the afternoon. Shawshank‘s mom gave me a couple of sewing supplies – chalks and washable markers – which should help out a lot. It’s a major improvement over my current marking kit, which is a black Sharpie.
I spent half the time we were over there using Capcut to make promo videos for Fansly. Fansly changed their FYP/discovery algorithm again, and now it doesn’t show push images. Previously, images were definitely pushed, but video clips were definitely more popular. We understood that images weren’t going to get the big numbers. Support explained that this most recent change is based on user interactions. Since most users swipe past images without interacting, the algo won’t show them. Support actually said the only reason photos were getting any views in the past was because that previous algo forced them out to users.
Someone else put it pretty well:
They might not perform “as well”, but for many they performed enough?
With the previous algo, we punished ourselves by posting images. With the new algo, Fansly is punishing us.
Shawshank is working tonight, so I’ll figure out something to occupy my time. There’s some sewing to be done, and I wanna dance.
