Good morning, world. We woke up to thunder. I woke up earlier than I’d have liked, but not too much earlier than normal. I fought the blankets, which were smothering me. Shawshank got out of bed a couple of minutes later, just before his alarm went off. I must’ve fallen asleep again, because I woke up just after he’d left. I got up, recorded my morning pee for some impromptu 🌶content🌶, then made myself a coffee.
Yesterday, I devoted myself to my hair. I tossed all of the last “installation” in the tub with some fabric softener and dish soap, and let them soak. After a few minutes, I agitated them a bunch, rinsed them out, then hung them out on the back stoop’s railing to dry for a while.
The rest of the effort was put towards finishing the newest batch of locs. I sat down with seven matted up strips and the iron, and stood up 90 minutes later with seven new locs. I’ve been experimenting with both heat-sealing their form followed by crochet-wrapping them for smoothness. Hopefully, this will eliminate a lot of the trouble with frizz that I had with the first set I made.
I haven’t decided if I’ll start the next install tonight. Honestly, I probably should. It’s easier to work with if it hasn’t been washed recently. Shawshank is scheduled for night shifts for the rest of the week, which means I can stream at night. There’s more money to be made at night, and it’s definitely better money if I look presentable. I have about 3″ worth of roots in my hair right now. If I bleach it, I’m guaranteed to positively destroy it with the locs. I could add some blue, but that brings its own problems; even if the dye might not affect the synthetic hair, washing my natural shit resets the clock again.
It looks like today might be cloudy, but it feels like the mugginess is still around. I’m going to assume a human form before the Roomba pops out to harass me.
