Happy fucking Thursday, people. The week is not over yet. We have one more day before the weekend can start properly. We’re up. I woke up a bit early, sandwiched between all the members of the household and overheated a little. I didn’t look at the clock, just adjusted the headphones and mask and went back to sleep for a bit. When I woke up again, I was still surrounded by fur-beings, but only 15 minutes before the alarm.

Yesterday was a crafty day. I finished my Batpants in the morning. There wasn’t a lot left to do with them. It probably took longer to put the elastic in the tubes than the actual sewing. I didn’t take any pictures, otherwise I’d include some for your amusement. After lunch, I decided to see how quickly I could work up another pair. At this point, it looks like they take about ~3 hours, from start to finish, with Pippin’s assistance.

Since I loved this fabric, I made a point to cut the pattern pieces in a more conservative way so I could keep a bunch of it. It looks like a twin-sized flat sheet will give me one pair of ridiculous pants, and leave about a third of the sheet left. I think I’ll try to make a matching top.

I’m getting a lot more comfortable with assembling them. There’s a definite “order of operations”, which I’ve mostly worked out on my own because the original directions didn’t offer much guidance aside from “sew the sides and crotch and add a drawstring or elastic”. I also have some issues cutting pieces that match. The original pattern makes rather low-rise pants, and I usually adjust the length to make them slightly longer than the pattern. However, I’m a shit seamstress and never measure anything. I can’t cut more than two layers of fabric at a time, otherwise I’d just cut the two identical pieces at once. Seams? Totally eyeballed. I’m going to trace the adjusted/longer pattern out on some cardboard later, which should fix that problem. And I’m going to write the order that I should be doing all that shit on the cardboard.

Today is a sunny Thursday. From my observations on the couch, the weather looks a lot like yesterday. There’s a little less wind, but it’s still gusty. For now, I’m going to wash my hair, and assume a human form. I’ll figure out what I’ll do for the day later.
