So close to being done

So close to being done

The sun is shining and we’re all awake. I made it to around 6am with the mask, trying in vain to concentrate on my music and go back to sleep. Unfortunately, I neglected to set the repeat option on my playlist, and there was no music.

Just my brain’s nonstop monologueing.

Resetting the playlist, I made a final attempt for a doze, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Chaucer decided to drop his latest remix right beside Shawshank‘s side of the bed. Mind you, I’m in a state of mild sensory deprivation with my eyes covered and some Ramin Djawadi in my ears. I don’t hear any of this. Shawshank flew out of bed to move the cat off the carpet, a mass of flailing arms and blankets, leaving me in a state of blind confusion.

I spent a couple of hours sewing the kimono in the afternoon. The second side seam is stitched up. I sent pics to my mother.

Her: It’s pretty.
Me: It’s certainly *something*.
Her: I’ll reserve judgement until after it’s finished and I see it on you

If I set aside some time this afternoon, I’ll have it finished this weekend. At this point, the next step is reinforcing the side seams with the machine, because I can’t close up the lining until the seams are absolutely done. I need to assemble the hood and lining, pin it in, and see how it looks all together before the final run through the machine. Before I close everything up, I need to iron it again.

And finally, I need to make a binding for the edge.

I should stick to genie pants.

Maybe I’ll make a quick pair this morning, and then lounge about in them while I stitch and bitch the rest of the day. Since today is Friday, it’s also date night. Shawshank and I are going out to the diner after he gets out of work. He’s working tomorrow, but the rest of the weekend is ours.
